Charles B. Dees, President

Founded in 2007 by Charles B. Dees, Riverbanks Construction was the realization of his personal dream of becoming a custom homebuilder. During his pursuit to become a homebuilder, he frequented various job sites thinking how he might do things differently. In fact, as the late 1990s and early 2000s saw a boom in the building industry nationally, it was obvious that many of the new construction companies that showed up nationally as well as in New Bern were looking for a quick buck and quality results were not their primary focus. Many of these builders have since disappeared due to under-capitalization and poor business planning, which made them a victim of an ailing economy, which is where Dees found the opportunity to offer custom building with a focus on quality construction.

This pursuit of quality led Dees to where he is today. He obtained a formal, hands-on, residential building education from Pitt Community College and is obtaining his Master Builder’s designation from the NC Home Builders Association. He is a graduate of the National Association of Home Builders Green Building program, and he has received his Certified Green Professional designation. In addition, Dees is currently taking part in NC State University’s Solar Centers Green Building and Renewable Energy Diploma series and is a participant in the NC Healthy Built Homes program, which is a third party certifier for residential builders who use high performance building strategies and green building techniques.

Dees offers a “Systems Approach” to building, which means he believes all aspects of the building should be considered and must work cohesively to result in a high performance, comfortable and healthy home that minimizes energy consumption, promotes renewable energy use, and helps to protect the environment in which it is built.
